National Small Business Week: IRS Drops Tools, Webinars, and Resources for Tax Pros and Their Clients

The IRS announced a series of resources and events to support small business owners during National Small Business Week, which runs through May 9. The Small Business Administration has recognized the week for over 60 years to honor the role small businesses play in the American economy.

This year, the IRS is rolling out daily key topics for small businesses, covering scam prevention, best practices for choosing the right business entity, smart tax planning throughout the year, available digital tools (including the Business Tax Account), and disaster preparedness for protecting business assets.

A free webinar, “Understanding Federal Taxes for Small Businesses,” is scheduled for Thursday, May 7 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. EDT.

Year round resources include small business webinars, in person workshops and seminars, free e News email subscriptions, current tax tips, and standard mileage rate guidance available on IRS.gov.

THE TTR TAKE

Small Business Week is more than a feel good campaign. It’s a reminder that the IRS is actively pushing tax pros toward digital tools (Business Tax Account, secure messaging, electronic filing) that will become standard practice. If your firm still leans heavily on phone calls and paper, this is the year to upgrade systems. The clients you onboard during Small Business Week are the ones whose practices grow with you.
